Twitter and Your Business
Twitter is all the rave recently, but really it only works well for businesses – which means we’re all in luck! Twitter is basically just the status feature from Facebook, where users can enter information about themselves, and what they are doing, or display links for their network to see. Twitter is a service that allows users to let their social network know exactly what they’re doing…at every minute of every day.
Twitter limits users’ status updates to 140 characters and allows users to post updates from a computer, BlackBerry, iPhone or a regular phone through text messaging services.
Twitter users say that the site is a great way to broadcast your stream of consciousness, and that it’s a more effective way of communicating with several people at once. Although it has been around since 2007, in the last few months Twitter demographics have been fluctuating greatly due to a large number of people learning about the service. Currently, 57% of Twitter users come from California and the majority of visitors are between the ages of 18 and 44 years old.
Most of Twitter users live in urban areas, have stable careers, are liberal, and are conscious of the environment. 68% of Twitter users have no children. The top uses for Twitter according to 294 poll takers.
